Always tense… even when you’re doing nothing?

ree

"Maybe your body isn’t in danger. Maybe it’s just tired of protecting you all the time."

There are moments when everything around you feels calm.No one’s asking anything of you, nothing urgent is happening…and yet, your body still won’t relax.

Your shoulders stay lifted, your jaw is tight, your hands are tense, and your legs don’t seem to know how to be still.

It’s like your body is bracing for something — even if there’s nothing going on.

This tension isn’t about the present.

It’s not a response to what’s happening right now. It’s something deeper — a memory carved into your posture,a defense your body learned a long time ago.

Maybe you had to hold back your feelings to avoid causing trouble.Maybe you had to shrink yourself to feel safe.So your body adapted… and now it doesn’t know how to let go,even if it could.

But holding on takes energy.

Staying on guard wears you out. What once was a smart survival strategynow becomes chronic tension —a kind of tiredness that stays with you even when you sleep.

It doesn't even have a name.It just sits there, under your skin, and you feel it.

So what can you do?

You don’t need to force yourself to relax,or strike the perfect yoga pose.

What helps is simply noticing what’s happening in your body, without needing to fix it right away.

Try this:

  1. Feel your feet on the ground.

  2. Let your back soften a little.

  3. Unclench your jaw, even just a bit.

  4. Breathe slowly, no rush.

  5. And tell yourself:“I don’t need to protect myself right now. I can be here.”

The real release doesn’t come through effort, but when you stop trying to control everything — even your own letting go.

That’s when your body begins to trust, and soften.

Your body isn’t broken!

It’s just loyal to something that used to make sense. Now it’s waiting for you to notice — not to fix it,but to simply live in it again.

📍 If you feel something stays tight inside you, even when things seem calm around you —that’s not a problem. It’s a doorway. And maybe… it’s time to walk through it.
