Stress lives in the mind’s time, but the body lives in space

Minimalism and slow living are intrinsically connected to body awareness.
Only by returning to your body can you truly begin to breathe within yourself.
Intro:
Have you ever noticed how stress often arises not from what you do, but from what you think you must do?
The mind lives in time—tomorrow, later, soon, next month and It traps you in a continuous I must, I should, leaving no room for rest, no space to pause and breathe.
Your body, however, does not live in time. It lives in space, the physical, sensible, tangible space that holds and grounds you, here and now.
🔹 Body & Slow Living Section:
Minimalism and slow living aren’t just about having fewer things or doing less.
They are deep invitations to return inward, to simplify your inner world, to let go of noise and haste and rediscover your own natural rhythm.
That rhythm cannot be found by the mind, which moves in time.
The body moves through space.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed by the “musts” and “don'ts,” try asking yourself:
Am I in my head or in my body? Living in time or living in space?
When you return to the body, maybe with a deeper breath or feeling your feet on the groundthe pace softens, and space opens.
Not by magic, but by biology.
🧘♂️ A practice: Return to the space of the body
Try this — now, or as soon as you can
.Lie down on a mat or a bed, somewhere quiet and close your eyes.
Simply feel your body as a whole. You don’t need to do anything, just perceive.
Notice:
– Which parts of you are more supported by the surface?
– Which feel lighter, more suspended?
– Where is your body breathing, naturally?
– Is there an area that feels “full”? One that feels “empty”?
Don’t try to change anything...just stay there, listen, breathe.
Give yourself ten minutes. No judgment. No goal, maybe nothing will happen or maybe something will.
Maybe, simply, something inside you will have made space...and in that space… you might finally start to feel a new part of yourself.
🌀 When you slow down, you find space again:
It’s not about stopping your thoughts and it’s not even about removing stress
from your life forever.
It’s about recognizing when you’ve slipped into the time of the mind, that time made of duties, anticipations, and piling urgencies.
That time which leaves no space for your body, your breath, your truth.
And each time you notice it...you can choose to return to the space of the body.
That place without rush, where nothing needs to be proven and where things slowly reorganize on their own.
Where action becomes natural, fluid, necessary.
Minimalism and slow living are not aesthetic trends, they are practices of returning to what matters and nothing is more essential than you — breathing within your body.
Start from there...then, everything else will follow.
